Origination:
In Chinese tea culture, the gongdao bei, also known as the cha hai (tea sea), cha zhong (tea cup), yun bei (uniform cup), etc., is an important tea utensil during the tea brewing process.
Usage:
Due to the time difference in the leaching of substances from the tea leaves, the concentration of each infusion of tea soup will vary. The gongdao bei can be used to pour the brewed tea soup into it for mixing, making the concentration, taste, and aroma
of each cup of tea soup tend to be consistent. This enables every tea taster to enjoy tea soup of the same quality, reflecting fairness and justice. For example, when brewing Pu’er tea with a gaiwan (lidded tea bowl), the tea soup will have different
concentrations after multiple infusions. Still, it can be harmonized and made uniform through the gongdao bei.
